Frequently Asked Questions

We aim to make your shopping experience as simple and transparent as possible. Below are answers to the questions our customers ask most. If you need further help, our support team is always here, just get in touch.

Yes, Every plate we sell as road-legal is 100% UK road legal and MOT compliant, manufactured to the current British Standard (BS AU 145e). That means solid black characters in the legally required Charles Wright font, the correct size and spacing, a reflective finish, and our supplier details and British Standard number printed on the plate. We also make custom show plates, which are for off-road display use only, you'll always choose road-legal or show use when you order.

Yes, The DVLA confirms that the characters on a number plate can be three-dimensional, so our 3D gel plates and 4D plates are fully road legal and MOT compliant when ordered as road-legal. "4D" is simply the industry name for laser-cut acrylic characters, they still meet the same BS AU 145e standard. You can read the official rules on the GOV.UK number plate guidance.

Yes, any plate you order from us as road-legal is built to pass an MOT. Occasionally an MOT tester may be unfamiliar with 3D/4D plates; if that happens, contact us and we'll provide written confirmation that your plates meet the British Standard.

No, Show plates are for off-road use only, car shows, exhibitions and display. They're printed without the legally required supplier and British Standard markings, so they must not be used on a public road. If your plate is for everyday driving, choose the road-legal (MOT compliant) option.

By law, every DVLA-registered supplier must confirm you're entitled to the registration before making road-legal plates. You'll need proof of identity/address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or bank statement) and proof of entitlement to the registration (such as your V5C logbook, new keeper slip, V750 certificate or V778 retention document). Show plates don't require these documents.

A standard UK car plate measures 520mm × 111mm. We also make a range of other sizes, including shorter plates, square 4x4 plates, Range Rover-style plates, motorbike plates and custom sizes for imports, so we can fit almost any vehicle. Just choose your size in the plate builder.

Yes. Alongside standard car plates we manufacture motorbike plates, square 4x4 plates, Range Rover-style plates and fully custom sizes for imports and unusual fitments. If you're unsure which size you need, send us an enquiry and we'll help.

In most cases, yes our 4D acrylic characters use a very strong adhesive and hold well on curved bumpers. If your bumper is extremely curved and you're concerned, our 3D gel plates are more flexible and a great alternative.

Not on a road-legal plate. By law, the small text along the bottom must show the supplier and British Standard details. Personalised text and slogans are only possible on custom show plates.
